The author's love for the country is infectious in this collection of stories that show how precious our traditions are, and how the past is what is true. From the aching melancholy of what we've lost to the bursting pride in what we, as a people have achieved, Maranan takes our hearts on an emotional journey across the archipelago, pausing from time to time – as the best storytellers do – to point out the marvels of the caves and mountains, field and flowers, and where to find the sweetest mangoes. A treasure trove of cultural identity, a must-have for a child's library.
- Dean Francis Alfar, author of Salamanca and The Kite of Stars
